Amardeep Dhaliwal, M.D.


Amardeep Dhaliwal, MD is a recent addition to the medical staff at Singla Eye Institute who joined our team after completing his ophthalmology residency at Louisiana State University in New Orleans. After graduating with Honors from Wayne State University in Detroit, MI – where he majored in Biology – Dr. Dhaliwal completed a transitional year internship at Crittenton Hospital in Rochester Hills, MI.  Dr. Dhaliwal has helped author numerous articles in peer-reviewed journals and is a frequent guest lecturer & presenter at national ophthalmology meetings. He is widely published in his specialty and has won numerous awards and honors during his education and training. Dr. Dhaliwal has a passion for teaching and is active in research on both the local and national levels.

Raj K. Singla, M.D., M.P.H. has been practicing ophthalmology in Southeast Texas for over the past twenty years. He received his Doctorate of Medicine in 1968. From there, he went on to become a Master of Surgery in Ophthalmology at the Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, one of the highest ranked universities in South Asia. He went on to become the chief surgeon at a major Indian hospital and performed approximately 1500 major surgeries in a one-year period.

Upon arrival to the United States, Dr. Singla continued his foray into the field of Ophthalmology. He earned a Masters in the Epidemiology of Eye Diseases from the University of Washington and went on to work as an instructor at the prestigious Tufts Medical Center. He also pursued a fellowship in retino-vitreous diseases at the University of Connecticut and was involved in the diagnoses and treatment of retinal vitreal problems.

Dr. Singla has avidly continued his education into all aspects of ophthalmology while maintaining and treating a large patient base in his private practice. He is a member of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgeons and a fellow of the American Board of Ophthalmology.

Dr, Singla keeps a pulse on all the new advancements in the field of ophthalmology. He acquires new instruments frequently to take advantage of the latest advancements in technology. This offers Dr. Singla better insight of the patients’ condition and provides patients with better care through earlier detection and treatment.

Many of Dr. Singla’s patients have been under his care since he first opened his practice. He has treated them, their family members and friends. It is truly a love for medicine and making a difference in the quality of his patient’s lives that has fueled his pursuit for excellence.

Dr. Carvounis is a Board Certified, Fellowship-trained Vitreo-Retinal Specialist. He completed his Fellowship training in Diseases and Surgery of the Retina and Vitreous at Baylor College of Medicine. After completing an Internship in Internal Medicine at the prestigious Mayo College of Medicine in Rochester, MD, Dr. Carvounis performed his Ophthalmology Residency at The George Washington University in Washington, DC. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the University of Oxford in Oxford, UK. His undergraduate degree is from University of Cambridge (Trinity College) in Cambridge, UK. Dr. Carvounis has served as a Clinical Professor at The George Washington University and as a Clinical Associate Professor at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. He is an award-winning surgeon who has been listed among the ‘Top Doctors In Houston,’ ‘Top 40 Under 40,’ and the ‘Best Wrangler’ Award-winner by the Vit-Buckle Society.
